Sanskrit Conversation Practice — speak with confidence, one question at a time

The shortest path from “I know some Sanskrit” to “I can hold a basic Sanskrit conversation” is to actually have one. These lessons give you a calm conversation partner that asks a question, listens to your spoken answer, and gently corrects you.

Conversations you can actually use

  • स्वपरिचयः — Tell who you are, where you live, what you do.
  • परिवारः — Talk about your parents, siblings, spouse, children.
  • व्यवसायः — Describe your profession and place of work.
  • दैनिकजीवनम् — Describe your daily routine, food, travel.
  • सामान्यप्रश्नाः — Answer common get-to-know-you questions.

How a single round of practice feels

You hear: भवतः नाम किम्? (What is your name?)

You answer aloud: मम नाम रामः अस्ति। (My name is Rama.)

The teacher’s voice replies: साधु। (Well said.) Your screen shows five saffron lotuses. The next question slides in.

If your answer is partial, you hear: उत्तमम्। पुनः प्रयासं करोतु। (Good — please try once more.) No pop-up shame, no flashing red — just another calm chance.

Built on the Sambhāṣaṇa-Saṃskṛtam tradition

The Sambhāṣaṇa-Saṃskṛtam movement has shown for decades that Sanskrit can be learnt the way any living language is: by speaking simple sentences daily. Vadama Samskritam mirrors that pedagogy in software — a private, patient practice partner you can open at 6am or 11pm.

Questions learners ask

What sentence patterns will I master after a month?+

You’ll comfortably handle the सः / सा / तत् + अस्ति structure, possessive सम्बन्धकारक endings (मम / भवतः / भवत्याः), simple verbs in present tense (वसामि, करोमि, खादामि), and question words किम् / कुत्र / कदा / कथम्.

Will the app accept feminine and masculine sentence forms?+

Yes. The onboarding asks your gender so questions are presented in the form natural for you (भवतः / भवत्याः) and answers in the matching grammatical gender are accepted.

What if I make a mistake?+

You get a gentle Sanskrit correction recorded by the teacher, plus the expected answer pattern revealed on screen. Then the lesson moves to the next question — no penalty.

Can I practise with a partner or in a group?+

The current release is solo practice. We’re evaluating an optional partner-mode where two devices share a lesson, but it’s not on the immediate roadmap.
