Sanskrit Family Vocabulary — words you actually use at home

How the vocabulary deck works

  1. Tap the परिवारः deck on the शब्दकोशः tab.
  2. The first card opens with a Sanskrit word and a play button.
  3. Press play — hear the word clearly. Repeat aloud once.
  4. The English meaning fades in after the audio.
  5. Tap "I said it aloud" → next card. No score, no streak.

Use the words in real sentences

Questions learners ask

Why so many words for "uncle"?+

Sanskrit distinguishes paternal-side and maternal-side relatives precisely — मातुल (mother’s brother), पितृव्य (father’s brother). Many Indian languages preserved this distinction; the English "uncle" flattens it.

How many words per deck?+

15–20 cards per deck, deliberately small so a deck takes 10–15 minutes. You can re-open a deck as many times as you like — the audio never tires.

Does the app teach Sanskrit case endings for these words?+

Not in the vocabulary deck itself — that would turn it into grammar drill. The conversation lessons in अभ्यासः (especially परिवारः) introduce the case endings naturally as you use the words in sentences.
