Sanskrit Self Introduction — say your name on day one

The first thing any spoken-Sanskrit programme teaches is how to introduce yourself. With Vadama Samskritam you can speak a complete self-introduction in Sanskrit by the end of your first 12-minute session — without memorising grammar tables.

What you’ll be able to say

  • मम नाम X अस्ति। — My name is X.
  • अहं मुम्बई-नगरे वसामि। — I live in Mumbai.
  • अहं अभियन्ता अस्मि। — I am an engineer.
  • मम परिवारे पञ्च जनाः सन्ति। — Five people in my family.
  • मम मातृभाषा हिन्दी अस्ति। — My mother tongue is Hindi.

How the lesson is structured

  1. The teacher’s voice asks भवतः नाम किम्? (What is your name?)
  2. You speak your name aloud in the Sanskrit pattern मम नाम __ अस्ति।
  3. The app evaluates your spoken answer against the expected pattern — semantically, not character-by-character. Five lotuses if the pattern matched.
  4. Five to seven such questions later, you’ve introduced yourself in Sanskrit.
  5. Repeat the lesson tomorrow. By day three, the patterns feel natural.

Why self-introduction is the perfect first lesson

Every word you’ll use is true. Your name, your city, your work, your family — answers you already know, just in a new tongue. That means you’re not memorising vocabulary in the abstract. You’re translating a piece of yourself, which is the fastest path to remembering Sanskrit sentence patterns.

Questions learners ask

What if I don’t know the Sanskrit word for my profession?+

The lesson accepts the English profession word inside the Sanskrit sentence pattern, e.g. "मम व्यवसायः software engineer अस्ति।" The teacher’s correction in the next round shows the proper Sanskrit term so you learn it organically.

Does the app know feminine forms?+

Yes. During onboarding you specify your gender so the app uses भवती / अहम् forms naturally. Female learners get female grammatical agreement.

Can children use this lesson?+

The pacing and vocabulary are calibrated for adults, but the content is family-friendly. A child sitting beside a parent benefits from listening.
